Social connection in the residential area

A strong sense of community brings many benefits. Neighbors can call on each other to exchange things, ask for help, organize activities,

Mayor Maarten Poorter

With my nose in the butter

There is no better way to get to know our villages and neighborhoods than by visiting neighborhood parties and events. And there were plenty of them in Dijk en Waard in recent weeks. The Langedoikermarkt, the Tour de Waard, the Gondelvaart in Koedijk, the Langedijker Beddenrace and the Late Summer Festivities in Sint Pancras. And then the fair in Zuid-Scharwoude has yet to start. What great parties they are. It gave me the opportunity to have a chat with many people. To sit at cozy tables in the front gardens and speak with volunteers, participants, sponsors and organizers.

As mayor, I am happy to notice how connecting our events are. And how pleasant and pleasant they are. After two years of corona, I felt the relief that it was finally allowed again.

Events are part of the culture and tradition of our villages and neighborhoods, and therefore also part of the future of our new municipality of Dijk en Waard. A future in which we pass on these traditions and possibly also new customs and customs from generation to generation.
